MICO: A meta-tool for prediction of the effects of non-synonymous mutations

چکیده
UNLABELLED The Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a state-of-the-art technology that produces high throughput data with high resolution mutation information in the genome. Numerous methods with different efficiencies have been developed to predict mutational effects in the genome. The challenge is to present the results in a balanced manner for better biological insights and interpretation. Hence, we describe a meta-tool named Mutation Information Collector (MICO) for automatically querying and collecting related information from multiple biology/bioinformatics enabled web servers with prediction capabilities. The predicted mutational results for the proteins of interest are returned and presented as an easy-to-read summary table in this service. MICO also allows for navigating the result from each website for further analysis. AVAILABILITY http: //mico.ggc.org /MICO.

Association of Pathogenic Missense and Nonsense Mutations in Mitochondrial COII Gene with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP)
Nuclear genetic mutations have been extensively investigated in solid tumors. However, the role of the mitochondrial genome remains uncertain. Since the metabolism of solid tumors is associated with aerobic glycolysis and high lactate production, tumors may have mitochondrial dysfunctions. Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a rare form of colorectal cancer and an autosomal dominant inheri...
متن کاملThe worldwide frequency of MYO15A gene mutations in patients with autosomal recessive non-syndromic hearing loss: A meta‐analysis
MYO15A is the third most crucial gene in hereditary sensorineural hearing loss after GJB2 and SLC26A4. In the present study, we reviewed the prevalence of MYO15A mutations in patients with autosomal recessive non-syndromic hearing loss (ARNSHL). In this meta-analysis, we conducted a search of PubMed, Web of Science, Excerpta Medica Database, and Scopus, and identified the articles up to Septemb...
متن کاملIn-silico study to identify the pathogenic single nucleotide polymorphisms in the coding region of CDKN2A gene
Background: CDKN2A, encoding two important tumor suppressor proteins p16 and p14, is a tumor suppressor gene. Mutations in this gene and subsequently the defect in p16 and p14 proteins lead to the downregulation of RB1/p53 and cancer malignancy. To identify the structural and functional effects of mutations, various powerful bioinformatics tools are available. The aim of this study is the ident...
متن کاملExperimental Determination and Prediction of the Fitness Effects of Random Point Mutations in the Biosynthetic Enzyme HisA
The distribution of fitness effects (DFE) of mutations is a factor of fundamental importance in evolutionary biology. We determined the DFE of 510 mutants that each carried between 1 to 10 mutations (synonymous and non-synonymous) in the hisA gene, encoding an essential enzyme in the L-histidine biosynthesis pathway of Salmonella enterica. For the full set of mutants, the distribution was bimod...
متن کاملMutation and Rare Polymorphisms Insight in Exons 7 and 20 of CFTR Gene in Non-Caucasian Cystic Fibrosis Patients
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common severe autosomal recessive disorder caused by a wide spectrum of mutations in the gene encoding for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein. The frequencies, types and distributions of mutations vary widely between different populations and ethnic groups. The aim of this study was to perform a comprehensive analysis of the C...
